This was my first trip to San Diego, and I was excited to try some good breakfast spots. I kept hearing about this place and was told it was well-known but overrated. Naturally, as someone who likes to try things for myself at least once, I had to see what all the hype was about. First, the atmosphere is killer and definitely a vibe! The decor and music make you feel like a “cool girl,” and the entire place is definitely TikTok- and Instagram-worthy. If you’re looking for a cute, trendy spot with great aesthetics, this place checks all the boxes. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. I visited on a Wednesday morning, and although there was about a 20-minute wait, it wasn’t too bad considering the restaurant’s popularity. However, once we were seated, the service went downhill. I only saw our server about twice, and while the food I did receive was good, only half of my order ever made it to the table. I missed out on the soufflé pancakes because it took nearly an hour for anyone to check on us again. I understand that soufflé pancakes take time to prepare, but an HOUR?! At that point, it was less about waiting for the food and more about the lack of communication and follow-up. After our server stopped by for the second time, we barely saw her again. In that entire hour, no one checked in with us until I finally managed to flag someone down. I explained that we were still waiting on the American breakfast and soufflé pancakes. The server looked into it and said, “Oh yeah, looks like they’re still in the making.” Again… ONE HOUR later, and our food was apparently still being prepared. After that, another server came over and said they would be taking over our table. By then, I had lost my patience and decided to cancel the rest of my order. What disappointed me most was that our original server didn’t seem particularly concerned that we had been waiting nearly an hour without receiving our food or getting any updates. I came in with high expectations, especially since the restaurant wasn’t even busy, so the lack of service was frustrating and disappointing. To be fair, the food I did receive tasted good, and although the prices were on the higher side, the portions were decent enough to make them somewhat reasonable. However, good food and a trendy atmosphere can only go so far when the service falls short. **My verdict? Definitely overrated.** The vibe is there, the aesthetics are on point, and the food has potential, but it felt like more attention was given to creating a trendy atmosphere than to providing a good customer experience. I’m glad I tried it for myself, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t rush back.

My friend and I visited this restaurant to celebrate her birthday, but unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. The two of us arrived at the restaurant at noon on a Monday. Upon arriving, a male host informed us that there would be a 25 minute wait to be seated at a table, but that we could sit at an outdoor counter and wait for our table to be ready. We happily agreed before being approached by a hostess named Madison, who told us that she preferred that those counter seats be left open and that we should wait elsewhere for our table to be ready. Mind you, there were about 6 open stools at this counter, and people were not being seated there. I thought this was strange, and that the hostess was quite rude, standoffish, and dismissive, but we abided by her request and left the restaurant. After forty minutes, we received a text that our table was ready. We returned to this restaurant (and yes those stools were still open), only for Madison to sit us at the bar. This was upsetting because we were told that we were waiting for a table and we wouldn't have waited so long for bar seating. My friend approached Madison and asked if we could sit at a table. Madison responsed, "well, the bar is what is available". My friend then informed her that we wouldn't have waited 40 minutes for bar seating, especially since we were guaranteed a table. Madison looked at my friend, looked at her tablet, and then looked my friend dead in her eyes and said, "actually, you only waited 36 minutes" before turning back around. Impeccable. What a delight! We then spoke to another host who was able to immediately seat us at a table. Imagine that. The manager came over to apologize to us by stating that our experience with Madison does not define their restaurant, which unfortunately for them, is untrue. If there is anything that represents a business, it is your employees, but I digress. Thank you to our server for the birthday pin, dessert, and espresso martini for my friend. My fried rice with vegan eggs and soyrizo was delicious. My friend enjoyed her quesabirria. We didn't like our cocktails at all so I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're looking for good drinks. The food was good and the interior is beautiful, but I would not return. 40 minute wait on a Monday afternoon, I can't even imagine the weekends. Madison, I hope that this is a temporary job. Hospitality is not for you.

The food was pretty good overall, but the experience was a little underwhelming. The servers seemed quite busy, and I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get any explanation about the oysters we were served. I would have loved to know more about the different varieties we were trying. The oysters were also smaller than I expected. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but I wish the service had been a little more attentive.

First of all: The food was worth the hype. We had the lobster roll, the salt and vinegar fries, squid ink uni pasta, mushrooms, bread & butter, shrimp cocktail and the banana pudding. We got the sampler cocktails/beer/shot. Everything was beyond delicious and perfectly prepared. There is nothing I would change. We cleaned our plates because it felt like we'd be cursed for leaving anything uneaten. I fell asleep within seconds of getting home because I was so full and satiated LOL The service was good, even though they were really busy, everything came out really fast. Server checked on us plenty but not too much. My only complaint is the seating at the bar. I'm 5'4" (average height for an AFAB person) and I have never sat at a more uncomfortable bar in my life. The bar stools are way too high to not have foot rests of their own and then the foot bar/rest on the ground was several inches from my feet so my feet were just dangling. The stool was also positioned a little too far from the bar so I couldn't reach my drink on the bar without slipping off or spinning. I just opted to stand. If our table wouldn't have been ready, we likely would have left after one drink and came back with a reservation. I know you can't please everyone with seating and this may be a tough fix, but definitely something I hope ownership is considering improving. Thanks for a great night of food, drink and merriment!

The restaurant wasn’t busy. We showed up 15 minutes early for our reservation and it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged at the bar. Not a hello or anything just a what do you want. When we got to our table we didn’t see our waitress for 20 minutes and then when she showed up finally she tried to pressure us into ordering everything at once. Didn’t explain the menu or give suggestions. Very poor for a $200+ dinner. Would not recommend.

The place is very nice, but the service and food aren't good, and it's quite expensive. We tried to get a reservation on Saturday, but it wasn't possible, so they seated us at the bar. Two blocks away is Craft and Commerce, which is a completely different concept and type of food, but I promise you won't regret it.

This was our first time here, but man oh man, it is easily our second favorite spot, a close second that is. The service was definitely great and the food was delicious. We had the Waygu dinner for two sampler, and the broccoli and then the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. I took my wifey there as a special birthday dinner and they made it very special for us, a personalized menu that she could take home, as well as a large macaroon with Happy Birthday and her name on it. 100/100 would recommend going there, the Snow-Aged Wagyu was soooooo good and buttery and melting in your mouth!

Had shrimp scampi, fettuccine Alfredo with bay shrimp, Cesar salad and garlic cheese bread. Soooooo delicious we took half home and enjoyed it for dinner the next day. Love this place and the price is on point and much lower than some of the other Italian restaurants in Little Italy. The market next door has great choices for meats cheese fresh pasta and Italian staples. Bring your appetite!

If you come to San Diego and don’t get a sandwich from Mona Lisa, you’re legally obligated to explain yourself to the authorities. Seriously, if you leave this place without a sandwich, just cancel your plans, go home, and reevaluate every decision that led you here. These sandwiches are so ridiculously good they’ll make you question why you’ve been wasting your life eating sandwiches anywhere else. The bread, the meats, the cheese, the fresh ingredients… it’s like an Italian grandmother reached down from heaven and slapped you with a baguette full of happiness. The portions are generous, the flavors are unreal, and the deli has that authentic Italian vibe that makes you want to grow a mustache, start calling everyone “paisano,” and reconsider your entire career so you can work here full-time. Mona Lisa isn’t just a deli. It’s a religious experience between two slices of bread. Do yourself a favor: get the sandwich. Eat the sandwich. Tell your friends about the sandwich. Then come back tomorrow for another sandwich. And if you’re in Little Italy and walk past this place without stopping? I’m not saying you’ve failed at life… but you’ve definitely failed at lunch. 🇮🇹🥪

I have to be honest here the food wasn't bad.... but for almost $80 I wanted more. the pizza was Soo cheesey I have to give it that but I realized there was no sauce and maybe that's the American pizza in used to but I love a saucy pizza and was sad to see no sauce. the meatball lasagna was well done the noodles fresh but again maybe this is the failure of my expectations but the sauce was just not as flavorful as I was expecting...used said sauce on pizza 🍕 it was good! I had a wine and my partner had a soda. the weight staff was very attentive and the ambiance was good. the pizza had a strong basil flavor and I feel like that saved it for me but as cheese lover I like my margarita pizzas saucy. Also go through the shop to get to the restaurant!

Came here for brunch and ordered the lamb kebabs with hummus. It was a great amount of meat and the hummus was delicious. The only feedback is that the lamb was seasoned and served a little bit lukewarm. Other than that, everything was great and there was great service and attention from the wait staff
